Satoshi is a hansom young man with shaggy black hair, slate blue eyes, and a light complexion. He stands around six feet tall and has a slender but athletic build that suits a trained swordsman. He prefers his clothes plain, fitted, and darker in color, though blues and blacks compliment his features best. T-shirts, Jeans, and sneakers are normal order of business for clothing choices, though he isn’t beyond rocking a leather jacket if it suits his tastes.

Personality:

Calm, contemplative, and kind are the three words that describe Satoshi best. Though he might not come off as day dreamer, in truth this young swordsman is about as down to earth as it gets. He’s also constantly aware of his surroundings and often knows more about what’s going through another person’s head than they themselves do. This unique talent is one reason Satoshi is such a skilled fighter since he can often read his opponent’s intentions long before they even make their first attack. Unfortunately this unique talent can also lead to some awkward situations, thus Satoshi has learned to keep his mouth shut if the subject seems too sensitive. If nothing else he is kind and takes no pleasure in the pain of others.

Satoshi is also quite the thinker, often interested in matters of philosophy and ideals, though he doesn’t always agree the every view point could be right. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong, and doesn’t care how much you sugar coat the latter in an attempt to make it sound just. The sort of people who try to say there is no good or bad, or who try to make the wrong thing seem right, are also the sort of people that kindle Satoshi’s anger the most. When he does become angry it is a sort of quite fury that not everyone instantly perceives but will no doubt feel when he brings the hammer down on them.

Though a man of few words, Satoshi has an array of ideals and emotions that reflect his noble spirit.

Skills and Techniques:

Expert Swordsman: Satoshi is skilled in several sword styles including Kendo, his family’s own Shinkage-Ryu style, and Zanjutsu. His understanding of swordplay rivals that of elderly masters, and with time he could become one of the finest swordsman in the world.  

Hoho: Satoshi is extremely talented with Shunpo and is able to travel over fifty feet with a single step. He is also quite capable at detecting Shunpo like abilities and determining their trajectory.

Kido: Though not an expert in the art, Satoshi has learned several basic Kido and can use them without reciting there incantations. While he could probably be more proficient in the art, he prefers to focus on his swordplay both during training and combat.

Basic Unarmed Combat: Satoshi’s skills in unarmed combat is limited to basic Judo and Hakuto, focusing on disarming or disabling his opponents.

Zanpakuto: Vajra no Yaiba (Blade of Adamentine)

In its sealed state, Vajra no Yaiba looks like a rather plain katana with a blue hilt and sheath, and a circular hand guard.

Zanpakuto Spirits: The blade’s spirit is split into two forms, that of a huge armored warrior called Vajra, and a thin swordsman in a tattered kimono called Yaiba. The two are constantly fighting, or rather Yaiba is while Vajra just sits around and takes the ineffective blows.

Shikai: “Endure the Strike, Vajra no Yaiba”

Satoshi grips his sword hilt in both hands and releases his sword only for the blade to glow blue for a moment before returning to normal. At first glance it seems he has failed to perform shikai, but upon closer inspection one would see that the blade looks more polished than before. In truth the Zanpakuto’s true nature and power is as simple as it is sublime: it is a sword that can cut anything, but cannot be cut itself. This simple concept makes Vajra no Yaiba the ideal sword since it can even “wound the air through which it passes” if Satoshi wants it to. The targets reiryoku, strength, and abilities mean nothing: if Satoshi believes he can cut them or can endure their attacks, than his sword will respond in kind.

The only limits to the sword are Satoshi’s will and the range of the blade’s size and shape. However, as long as Satoshi keeps his cool and doesn’t let doubt enter his mind he can easily compete with opponents even leagues stronger than himself.


Bankai: Not yet achieved.

Inner World: The world within Satoshi’s soul is that of a range of indestructible, diamond topped mountains that are constantly struck by unstoppable bolts of lightning. Strangely the sky above is completely clear and blue, and while it sounds chaotic the entire scene is quite serene and beautiful.

Other:

Satoshi doesn’t have many practical skills so finding employment can be difficult.

His best friends, Katsu and Mari, often drag him into some rather “fun” situations, but in the end he always finds himself better for the experience.

He is very close to his father and mother, the former being a kendo instructor and the latter being a talented hostess, but isn’t on good terms with some of his extended family.

His cousin, Akunei, is friendly towards him but also sees him as a rival. She wishes to prove she is the best swordsman amongst the Yagyu but has so far not been able to beat Satoshi in a duel.

Satoshi likes historical novels, the classics, and books on philosophy. He is also quite a music buff and has a wide range of tastes including classical, digital, and most things in between. He’s also quite skilled when behind a turn table and sound pad, though he has never let anyone listen to his compositions out of embarrassment.  

Satoshi’s favorite food is cold sobe and his least favorite is anything spicy.
